Next month marks the beginning of another season of transition for our family...

We are super familiar with seasons of transitions and this time we are so thankful we get to be home in North Carolina surrounded by those who love us in the midst of it! I'm writing this blog in Iowa surrounded by an ever growing mountain of familiar fry boxes containing our life's belongings. They sit, half packed and label with care just waiting for their next adventure.

Since our last visit to NC we have experienced so much change, but there's comfort in whatever is next for our family. We will once again find ourselves living in the land of sweet tea and Southern goodness. North Carolina will be where we land in-between Iowa and what's next... it's a bit of a leap of faith, but again we aren't unfamiliar with taking those either.

Looking back I realized that we have moved or prepped to move almost every summer since 2018, and now 2024 is no different. Truthfully, Summer hasn't been a season of relaxation for us for years, summers for us are more of a season of striving and survival. With Summers always being so hectic it's no shock that Fall is where our rest, comfort and creativity has often been rediscovered. During the Fall time feels slower, laughs feel deeper, the light seems more golden, and the crisp air refreshes me more than I can convey in words here.

Trust for what is next...

If we're friends or you've followed us for a while you know our family has lived in seasons of trusting the Lord to lead us where we are meant to be. Sometime we've only known what's next months, days or weeks at a time. Transparently, I've wrestled for a while with leaving the comfort we've found in Iowa and being in another version of this season again, but I know it is ultimately the right move for us. I'm choosing gratitude for the blessings we have and for what will come.. even when it's hard in the present.

Our little family is currently committed to living in North Carolina through December, and during that time I am eager to do work with clients and capture memories for others again! I'd love to tag along with you for a day... let's go to the mountains, your favorite place to get coffee, your home, a family farm, the beach or wherever is special to you! Have no idea where you want to go? I've got some great options available!

Below is a bit of a roadmap of what I'm thinking for September through December regarding photography...

September

We are heading home in September and taking some much needed time to rest. We will be visiting our favorite spot on the NC coast for a week and I'd love to get a couple or family in front of my camera while we are there. If you will be in the area of Ocean Isle in mid-late September let me know and we can see if our dates align!

October (Fall Minis)

As we shift into October I will be doing some Fall minis and leaving availability for longer portrait and lifestyle sessions in North Carolina and surrounding states! I'm so sad to leave my friends and clients behind in Iowa, but I cannot wait to capture memories for others again in the South. During this time you will easily be able to talk me into trips to the mountains (or Biltmore) for photos... I miss these places a lot haha!

November & December (Christmas Minis)

In November, I'm planning to offer up another date or two of Fall mini sessions, leaving space for other sessions, and will be thankful that the cold weather will be much milder than what we've experienced in the past several Novembers ;) In the past two years of photographing clients in Iowa at Christmas, my NC people have always commented on how they wish the cute little Rose Farm could be in NC and well... have you seen Fleurish Greenhouse in Taylorsville??? I've been looking for a time to shoot here and when I saw that they had Christmas dates posted I knew I had to snag some times. After messaging with them I just know it's going to be decorated so beautiful this year!!

Now I'm the kinda of person who needs Christmas to start after Thanksgiving so I've currently reserved two dates at Fleurish (5 Mini Spots) on December 1st and I'm planning on 2 day turn around time so you can still order Christmas cards.

Update: I've also had interest for early November Christmas Mini dates so I'll do those on November 10th for my early Christmas crowd ;)

Thank you for reading!

That's about it!! Thanks for reading and you're literally the bomb.com for making it through all that. I really appreciate it. I've been holding onto this tightly for the past few months, not knowing how or when to share, but as it gets closer and closer I knew I had to share soon. If you are interested in a session you can use the button below to reach out or DM me. Thanks!
